The Atlas Copco IWD 50 (8102048002) is an intelligent zero-loss condensate drain for compressed air systems, designed to collect and remove the liquid water, known as condensate, that forms as compressed air cools inside receivers, dryers, and filters. Left in the system, that moisture causes corrosion and can carry over into your tools and processes, so a reliable automatic drain is an essential part of clean, dry compressed air.

What sets this unit apart is its electronic zero-loss operation. A timer-style drain opens on a fixed schedule and vents compressed air along with the water, wasting energy every cycle. The IWD 50 instead uses an advanced float with two-level sensing to detect the actual liquid content, and it discharges only once the collected condensate reaches a preset level. Because it stops before the receiver empties completely, no compressed air is allowed to escape with the water, which keeps running costs down.

Reliability features are built in throughout. The drain cleans itself automatically to help prevent premature failure, and a reinforced dirt screen filter, easy to reach for routine checks, keeps debris out of the valve. If the valve ever fails to operate correctly, an alarm alerts you so the fault can be dealt with before moisture builds up. A hard-coated aluminum receiver makes the IWD 50 suitable for both oil-lubricated and oil-free installations.

Installation is straightforward. The unit is plug and play on a 115V supply and needs no additional electrical connection, and the revolving inlet connection lets you mount it either vertically or horizontally to suit the space you have. For sizing, the IWD 50 carries a maximum working pressure of 232 psi (16 bar) and is rated to handle the condensate load of a compressor delivering up to 106 cfm (50 l/s) of free air, or up to 212 cfm (100 l/s) when installed downstream of a dryer.
