The Atlas Copco GA18 FF (8153656650) is an oil-injected rotary screw air compressor rated at 25 hp (18.5 kW), supplied as a floor-mounted, air-cooled unit for 60 Hz power. It is a full-feature model, which means a refrigerant air dryer and a water separator are built into the same enclosure, so the machine produces clean, dry compressed air ready to feed straight into your air network without a separate dryer standing alongside it.
It is rated at a design pressure of 125 psi (8.6 bar), which suits workshops and light-to-medium industrial plants running air tools, production lines, pneumatic equipment and general shop air. As an oil-injected screw compressor it is built for continuous, 100 percent duty-cycle operation, making it a practical choice for sites that need air for hours at a stretch; screw and piston machines each suit different duties, so the right choice comes down to how you run it rather than one type being better than the other.
In an oil-injected screw compressor, oil is injected into the compression element to seal, cool and lubricate the two rotors as they compress the air, and the oil is then separated back out before the air leaves the machine. The GA18 FF uses Atlas Copco RDX (Roto Duty Extend) synthetic compressor oil and holds about 3.2 US gallons (12.2 liters). The integrated refrigerant dryer chills the compressed air to condense out moisture as condensate, the water that would otherwise collect in your piping and tools, and an automatic drain with a 1/4-inch (6.35 mm) outlet connection discharges it without anyone opening a valve by hand.
The compressor is managed by an Atlas Copco Elektronikon controller, which handles start, stop and pressure regulation, shows service and warning indications, detects faults and shuts the unit down to protect it. The drive is an IE3 motor, meaning it meets a premium international efficiency class that lowers running cost over the life of the compressor, and it is totally enclosed and fan-cooled to stand up to a dusty workshop environment.
It runs on a three-phase 60 Hz supply and is a tri-voltage unit rated for 460 V operation. It arrives ready to connect, with a single compressed-air outlet and a compact frame roughly 70 inches (1775 mm) long and 48 inches (1220 mm) tall that a forklift can reposition easily. Being air-cooled, it needs a ventilated space and will accept inlet air up to 115 °F (46 °C), and at a mean sound level of 67 dB(A) it is quiet enough to sit close to where the air is used.
